Rescuing
Children

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." (James 1:27)

Much of the focus of Mission Sebenzela is to help meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the children of Africa. There are over 1 million orphans in South Africa alone and at least that many more live in intolerable and dangerous conditions. The ministry seeks abandoned and vulnerable children and finds places of safety for them, serves those orphans living in home-based care, works with partners to offer after-school programs, and has plans to launch an additional shelter. Moreover, Mission Sebenzela has helped to plant a children's church in a rural area outside of Johannesburg.

What you can expect
Challenges: Living in a foreign country with a melting pot of cultures. Seeing the obstacles that the poor and fatherless face. Seeing the devastation that poverty and HIV/AIDS is bringing Africa. Discovering the heart of GOD for these people. Hearing the HOLY SPIRIT challenge you about your future life.

Experiences: Orphans starving for your attention. Visiting an African game reserve. Eating strange and wonderful foods. GOD giving you HIS heart of compassion. Ministry to the lost, sick and hungry. Meeting the LORD in a fresh, new way. Meeting fellow believers that challenge your view of God.

Results: A Kingdom world view. A radically changed heart. A new appreciation for the blessings of life. An understanding of GOD's plan for your life. A deeper walk with Jesus. Being broken for a broken world.

How to Get Started
If you are an adult (aged 21 and up) and a high-school graduate, then feel free to download an application and begin the process. Please understand, that this is work and not a place to escape the challenges of your life. To be accepted, it must be evident that the LORD is asking you to radically abandon your current circumtances in favor of life in a foreign culture. Your growth will come from serving others through real-life, cross cultural ministry opportunities. It this is you, then by all means, apply.

Mission Sebenzela is interested in every person who feels a call to serve Jesus by serving the people of Africa through the giftings given to you by God. We are, however, looking for individuals for the following positions.

Children's Camp Coordinator
Short-term Volunteer Coordinator
Teachers on Mission Coordinator
Ministry Administration
Children's Camp Staff (seasonal)
Teachers
